Vascular Surgery

This practical guide is devoted to vascular diseases as dealt with by vascular surgeons primarily with the collaboration of other specialists attending to vascular diseases. Because vascular disease requires a holistic approach that can ideally be delivered by various disciplines working together in the form of vascular centres, the book depicts precisely this approach towards confronting and treating vascular diseases. The readership that will benefit the most would be trainees and practitioners in vascular surgery, angiology and also practicing physicians. The coverage in a comprehensive, yet easy to follow, format of most aspects of vascular diseases will also render this book valuable to physicians of other specialities. The authors comprise distinguished professionals from European Union countries therefore reflecting, besides the theoretical knowledge and information on the practice of vascular specialists, the level and standards of care of vascular diseases in the European Union

Fractures Classification in Clinical Practice

Residents and junior doctors on rotation are under constant pressure to have accurate and up-to-date information available to them. This is never more important than when on rotation in the Emergency Room. Junior doctors often lack experience in orthopaedics making the recognition and accurate identification of fractures and their treatment a challenging task.

This comprehensive handbook contains a wealth of illustrations and explanatory text, which is organized into a concise repository of information on fractures according to the most widely used classification systems. The classification systems covered include AO and OTA systems. This allows readers the opportunity to make a correct diagnosis using the appropriate criteria, while simplifying the planning of further management and ensuring that communication with experienced staff is more effective.

A unique contribution to the field. . . The long-awaited second edition of the Oxford Textbook of Surgery is a unique contribution to the field. It not only provides a comprehensive and authoritative reference on all aspects of general surgery, but also offers substantial sections on subspecialties such as orthopedics, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiac surgery. It has been designed and written by an international faculty, for specialist and trainee surgeons working in any part of the world. Key sections, written by world authorities, include those on endoscopic surgery, surgical nutrition, response to injury, the design and interpretation of clinical trials, causes of cancer, vascular surgery, and the selection of surgical trainees. What’s new? For this new edition there are major new sections on, for example, molecular biology and evidence-based approaches to surgical decisions. Response to injury, Trauma and shock, Minimally invasive surgery and Surgical nutrition are covered in much greater detail. Almost all the other sections have been rewritten by new contributors or heavily revised to reflect new developments and emphases in the field, and data from randomized trials. Comprehensive, international, humane The Oxford Textbooks have found their way into clinics, libraries, and hospital departments the world over. They have earned praise for their careful integration of basic science and the best of clinical practice, their international focus, and not least their exhaustive coverage. Like our other Oxford Textbooks, this new edition of the Oxford Textbook of Surgery emphasizes a humane approach, providing chapters on counselling bereaved relatives, pain relief, and the care of the dying. The full-colour design of the Textbook has been thoroughly updated and enhanced and the Textbook should be an essential component of and adornment to the bookshelves of all surgeons.
